Jamshedpur, Jan 2: Two criminals who robbed a truck driver at knife point in the Potka police station area were arrested within hours of the incident following swift police action.
The incident took place on January 1 at around 8:30 AM near Hata Chowk, where the accused threatened a truck driver with a knife and looted Rs 4,080 before fleeing towards Sundernagar on a motorcycle.
On receiving information from local residents, Potka police immediately alerted Sundernagar Police Station In-charge Ajit Kumar Munda and PCR units deployed on the road.
Acting promptly, teams from Potka and Sundernagar police jointly launched a search operation and conducted a raid near the Tudi Football Ground, where both accused were apprehended.
Addressing a press conference at the Potka police station, inspector Suresh Prasad stated that the robbery was carried out by showing a knife to the truck driver.
After verification, concerned police stations were informed and a co-ordinated raid was conducted, leading to the successful arrest of the culprits.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vicky Singh, a resident of Burmamines, who has a criminal record registered in several police stations, and Asif Khan, a resident of Golmuri. Police recovered a brown wallet containing the looted amount of Rs 4,080 from their possession.
The motorcycle used in the crime has also been seized.
The raid team included Potka Police Station In-charge Sunny Toppo, Sub-Inspector Sunil Tuti, Sundernagar Police Station In-charge Ajit Kumar Munda, Assistant Sub-Inspector Babujan Baski, along with PCR personnel from Potka and Sundernagar police stations.
