Three arrested with counterfeit liquor in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, April 30: In a significant crackdown, Jamshedpur Rural Police apprehended three individuals in the Kamalpur police station area with 400 bottles of counterfeit liquor, worth over Rs 2 lakhs, concealed in a car. The arrested suspects, identified as Bittu Kumar Mahato, Amit Kumar, and Sachin Prasad, hail from various regions in Jamshedpur.

SSP Kishore Kaushal, addressing the media on Tuesday, revealed that an extensive investigation is underway in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The police force remains vigilant to prevent the illegal transportation of contraband items, including liquor, money, and drugs.

Acting on confidential information, the police conducted a raid leading to the arrests and seizure of the counterfeit alcohol. The fake liquor, comprising various brands, was traced back to operations in the Bodam police station area. Consequently, police operations have been extended to this region.

One individual is currently evading arrest in connection with the case, prompting ongoing police efforts to apprehend the fugitive. It has been uncovered that the seized fake liquor was intended for consumption during the elections, highlighting the nefarious intent behind the smuggling operation.
