Jamshedpur, July 4: Neeraj Singh, owner of the controversial DD Bar in Bistupur and a BJP leader, has moved the Jamshedpur court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the alleged murderous assault on two youths outside the bar on the night of June 27.
Apart from the anticipatory bail plea, Singh and his wife, Sandhya Singh, have filed two other petitions before the court. One of the applications seeks the release of vehicles seized during the investigation, while another challenges the FIR naming Neeraj Singh as an accused. All three petitions are currently pending adjudication. Senior advocate Prakash Jha is representing the petitioners.
The case pertains to the brutal attack on Himanshu Singh and Pratyush Anand outside DD Bar in Bistupur on June 27.
Himanshu later succumbed to his injuries, while Pratyush continues to battle for life.
Police registered the case on the complaint of Himanshu’s father and named 11 accused, including Neeraj Singh and the bar’s manager.
The petitions contend that Neeraj Singh was not present at the spot when the incident occurred and that the assault did not take place inside the premises of DD Bar. They further argue that the attack happened on the road outside the establishment, allegedly in the presence of police personnel, and therefore question the basis for implicating Singh in the FIR.
The matter is awaiting hearing before the Jamshedpur court.
