Jamshedpur, April 30: Tensions flared at Kerala Public School in Burmamines, Jamshedpur, as a dispute reignited between parents and the school director over the fate of students who failed re-tests in classes 9th and 11th. Amid scorching temperatures, students, parents, and school manager Shrikant Nair staged a sit-in protest, demanding resolution to the issue.

The contention stems from approximately 80 students failing in the re-tests, despite efforts to secure a passing grade. Out of these, only around 40 managed to clear the exams, leaving the rest in limbo. Frustrated by the outcome, students and parents convened outside the school premises on Tuesday, braving the oppressive heat.

Despite the school management’s attempts to facilitate dialogue by inviting the parents for discussions on-site, the majority remained steadfast in their protest. The situation took a dire turn when a student collapsed due to heat exhaustion, prompting concern among the gathered crowd.

Amidst heated exchanges between management and parents, the latter pleaded for leniency, urging the school not to issue transfer certificates (TCs) and instead provide students with another opportunity to continue their education within the institution. Parents argued that despite re-taking the exams, their children faced rejection from other schools, endangering their academic prospects and future.

In response, both students and parents vociferously demanded promotion from the school management, intensifying the standoff as they sought a resolution to the pressing issue.

  1. The interference of Govt. machinery in each and every minute aspect but leaving school authorities high and dry will only add more woes to education system of India. Govt. has mandated All Pass till particular standard but fail to reciprocate the fact that when children understand there is no need to study then how will they even pass the next level where there is no All Pass.
