Jamshedpur, July 4: Ending nearly 15 years of persistent drinking water scarcity, around 50 households on Road No. 3 near Kunwar Singh Maidan in Bagbera Housing Colony have finally started receiving regular piped water supply.
The long-awaited restoration has brought immense relief and joy to residents who had been struggling for years to meet their daily water needs.
The breakthrough became possible after the completion of an interconnection pipeline under the Bagbera Housing Colony Water Supply Scheme. The project, executed at an estimated cost of around Rs 4 lakh from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) fund, has ensured uninterrupted water supply with adequate pressure to every household in the locality.
Panchayat Samiti Member Sunil Gupta, who had been relentlessly pursuing the issue for several years, said the morning supply from Bela reached all the affected homes as soon as the interconnection work was completed.
Residents welcomed the development by filling buckets, drums and other storage containers, expressing happiness over the end of a prolonged crisis.
Gupta credited the success to sustained follow-up with various government authorities. He said he had repeatedly approached Potka MLA Sanjib Sardar, the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum, officials of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, including the Executive Engineer and Junior Engineer, as well as the Block Development Officer, submitting memorandums and pressing for an early resolution. The issue was also consistently raised during monthly Panchayat Samiti meetings.
Describing the project as a significant public welfare initiative, Gupta said the restoration of water supply has substantially improved the quality of life for local residents.
People of the area expressed gratitude over the successful completion of the work and appreciated Gupta’s persistent efforts in ensuring the execution of the project. Many residents remarked that he had translated years of assurances into concrete action, bringing a permanent solution to a problem that had affected dozens of families for over a decade.
