Thieves make away with smart phones and laptops worth over Rs 25 lakhs in Bistupur

Jamshedpur, July 29 : A gang of thieves decamped with smart phones and laptops worth over Rs 25 lakhs by breaking open a shop at Bistupur in the wee hours today.The incident took place at Digi Talk, located on the ground floor in Naredi Bhavan on M-Road near shopping complex Kamani Centre past midnight. The criminals entered the mobile stores by breaking open the shutters of the shop.

The shop owner, Nirmal Kumar Agrawal who is a resident of Gurudwara Bustee in Bistupur said they came to know about the burglary at about 10 am when one of his two staff informed him.

“We were shocked to know this. I got a call from one of my staff that the shop has been burgled. Soon I reached the spot and subsequently I informed the Bistupur police,” said Agrawal.

Agrawal said they had opened the shop just five months ago and had never thought that there could be a theft or burglary.

The shop owner said they had inquired about the security guard and found that he had fallen asleep when the crime committed at the shop. Agrawal said about 20 laptops of various companies and 100 high-end smart phones, including that of Apple have gone and the estimated cost of the burgled goods will be over Rs 25 lakh. He, on being quried, said that the shop was insured.

Deputy superintendent of police (composit control room) Sudhir Kumar had visited the spot along with officer-in-charge, Bistupur thana, Srineewas.
