Jamshedpur, May 12: Police arrested one Siraj alias Kallu for allegedly stealing an iron grill used as road divider at Bistupur-Jugsalai main road on Thursday.
The accused, a resident of Garib Nawaz Colony, Jugalai, was handed over to police by commuters. Cops also seized an iron divider used to partition the Bistupur-Jugsalai main road just 50 metres away from Jugsalai police station.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed his involvement in the theft, police said.
An FIR was lodged against Siraj on the information of SI Rishikesh Kumar Singh of Jugsalai police station, sources said.
According to Tarun Kumar, officer-in-charge of Jugsalai, the iron divider had broken off from its place and work was on to replace it. After the installation of the new divider, Siraj allegedly tried to steal it away by cutting it with the help of a sharp tool, cops said.
