Delhi police summon CJP leaders in Jantar Mantar case

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has summoned Cockroach Janta Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka for questioning on Thursday. Officials directed both leaders to appear at the Rajouri Garden Crime Branch office by noon.
The summons relates to the de-notified Jantar Mantar protest case from October 13. Police previously summoned both members in late October, but they skipped questioning and requested additional time from investigators.
Police transferred the trespassing cases to the Crime Branch last month. Authorities had detained Das, Ranka, Ajinkya Shinde, and 11 others for illegally entering the restricted site.
The activists had gathered at Jantar Mantar to protest against electoral roll revision irregularities. During the demonstration, the group raised slogans directly targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
While police released Shinde on a bail bond, Das and Ranka spent a full week in Tihar Jail. Authorities finally released both activists on October 21 after they submitted written peace undertakings.
Special Executive Magistrate Ritu Raj ordered their release after securing personal bonds of ₹50,000 each. The magistrate ruled that execution of these bonds would effectively maintain public tranquility during the ongoing inquiry.
In their signed undertakings, both CJP leaders promised to refrain from calling any further protests at Jantar Mantar. They also pledged full cooperation with the judiciary and committed to maintaining public peace.
