Jamshedpur, May 12: A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party members led by state spokesperson Kunal Sarangi met the state Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon on Thursday and raised various civic issues of Mango. The party leaders demanded basic civic amenities in Mango on lines of amenities availed by people in company command areas of Jamshedpur, party sources said.
The delegates informed the Finance Minister that the citizens residing in Mango felt cheated and deprived as the state government had formed the Mango Municipal Corporation, but had not conducted its elections. The citizens have long been demanding supply of clean drinking water, cleanliness, proper disposal of waste, mosquito control and many other measures to give them relief from various problems, party leaders said.
The leaders said the people were upset since the state government had increased holding tax three times.
Oraon reportedly assured the delegation of taking positive steps in their favour. He said the government would make sure that the people of Mango do not have to suffer due to increase in holding tax.
The party leaders handed over a memorandum to Oraon and sought his intervention to improve the situation in Mango. They said the water and power supply scenario was deplorable in almost all the localities.
