Jamshedpur, July 17: The casting of the testing pillar for the Mango flyover was successfully completed on Tuesday. Situated in the Bakri Bazar complex between the dividers of Dimna Road, this first pillar marks a crucial milestone in the project. Over the next 14 to 28 days, the strength of the pillar will undergo rigorous testing. Engineers will subject it to a load equivalent to two and a half times its normal capacity to ensure its structural integrity. Only upon passing this test will casting commence for the remaining pillars.
Prior to casting, the design of the flyover was meticulously approved. The project operates under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) mode, with Dinesh Chandra R Agarwal and IBRA ISKCON’s joint venture company responsible for its design and execution. The construction company has nearly completed soil investigation work, currently underway at two locations around the Mango roundabout.
The flyover, budgeted at 252 crores, spans 3.4 kilometers with terminations near Blue Bells School on Dimna Road and Payal Cinema on New Purulia Road. Additionally, it will connect Sakchi with terminals near Marine Drive and Old Court, including a bridge over the Swarnarakha River. Construction is slated for completion within 1.5 years from its commencement, with Chief Minister Hemant Soren laying the online foundation stone in early 2023 at Gopal Maidan.
