Jamshedpur, June 13: Saurabh Vishnu, head of the Jan Vikas Manch and former Lok Sabha candidate, has raised concerns over the recent hike in auto-rickshaw fares in Jamshedpur, calling it unfair in the absence of a proper public transport system.

He criticized the district administration and Transport Department, stating that citizens were being forced to rely on expensive auto-rickshaws due to the non-operational government city bus service. He demanded the immediate restoration of affordable public transport facilities in the city.

Saurabh Vishnu pointed out that buses purchased by the government at a significant cost earlier operated across major routes such as Sakchi and surrounding areas, but were no longer functional. He questioned why these buses had been left unused despite public need.

He stated that ordinary citizens, including himself, were unable to access government bus services due to their absence on city roads. He had written to the Deputy Commissioner urging immediate resumption of city bus operations.

He emphasized that an affordable and organized transport system was essential for the public and demanded urgent action to restore government-run bus services across Jamshedpur.
