Jamshedpur, Aug 17: The Vande Bharat Express was once again targeted by stone-pelting in Jharkhand, raising serious concerns about passenger safety. The incident occurred between Gamharia and Sini railway stations near Baliguma, at pole number 266/28, when stones struck the C-2 coach, shattering its window. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rushed to the spot and detained a minor, who later confessed during questioning that he acted “just for fun.” He was produced before the Chaibasa Railway Court, then transferred to the Seraikela Juvenile Court, and later released on bail.
However, further investigation revealed that others had instigated the minor to attack the train. According to RPF officials, efforts are underway to trace and take action against these individuals as well. Families of some suspects have reportedly approached RPF in an attempt to shield their children. RPF in-charge at Sini station, Shailesh Chand, confirmed that a case has been registered. “Stone-pelting on trains is a very serious offense, and strict action will be taken against all culprits,” he said.
Railway authorities have also reiterated their commitment to launching awareness campaigns and strengthening surveillance in sensitive areas. Despite earlier crackdowns, incidents of stone-pelting continue to trouble one of India’s fastest trains, once again questioning how secure modern rail services really are.
