Tatanagar: Festival special trains to ease passenger rush

Jamshedpur/Kolkata, Aug 23: To manage the anticipated surge of passengers during the upcoming festive season, South Eastern Railway has announced the operation of several Festival Special trains across different routes.

The NSCB Itwari–Shalimar–NSCB Itwari Special (08865/08866) will run between September 27 and October 2, 2025. Train no. 08865 will depart from NSCB Itwari at 17:10 hrs and reach Shalimar at 14:00 hrs the following day. In return, 08866 will leave Shalimar at 18:00 hrs and reach NSCB Itwari at 15:35 hrs the next day. Stoppages include Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Chakradharpur, Tatanagar, Kharagpur and Santragachi.

The Malda Town–Digha–Malda Town Special (03465/03466) will run on Saturdays from September 27 to November 29, 2025. The Malda Town–Digha train will leave at 13:10 hrs and reach at 23:00 hrs the same day, while the return service will depart Digha at 23:40 hrs and arrive Malda at 09:20 hrs the next morning. Stoppages are at Andul, Mecheda, Tamluk and Kanthi.

Another service, the Shalimar–Patna–Shalimar Special (08109/08110), will run between October 18 and November 2, 2025. The train will depart Shalimar on Saturdays at 21:55 hrs, reaching Patna at 08:00 hrs. The return train will leave Patna on Sundays at 10:40 hrs and arrive at Shalimar at 01:30 hrs. It will stop at Santragachi.

Additionally, the Santragachi–Charlapalli–Santragachi Special (08845/08846) will operate from September 19 to October 4, 2025. The onward journey will depart Santragachi every Friday at 14:55 hrs and reach Charlapalli at 16:00 hrs the next day, while the return train will leave Charlapalli every Saturday at 19:50 hrs, arriving Santragachi at 23:55 hrs the next day. Stoppages include Kharagpur and Baleshwar.
