Hemant Gupta bids farewell to Tata Steel, set to launch new venture

 

Jamshedpur: Hemant Gupta, Head– Sports Academies and Adventure Programme, Tata Steel, was given a warm farewell by the Sports Department of Tata Steel at a ceremony held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Colleagues and associates bid an emotional goodbye to Gupta, acknowledging his significant contributions to adventure sports and sports development in the city. A noted mountaineer, Gupta successfully scaled Mount Everest in 2017 and played a key role in taking TSAF to new heights, following the legacy of Bachendri Pal.

During his tenure, TSAF introduced sports climbing as a discipline and established India’s first sports climbing academy. He also played a crucial role in organising an international sports climbing championship in Jamshedpur.

Apart from TSAF, Gupta contributed to the Naval Tata Hockey Academy and the Tata Steel Sports Department over the years. An alumnus of IIT, he has now decided to move on from Tata Steel to start his own venture.
