Tatanagar: 2 nabbed for stealing luggages from AC coaches

Jamshedpur, November 11: Tatanagar RPF Flying Squad and CIB team have arrested two members of the gang involved in stealing passengers’ luggage.

The arrested accused include Sheikh Akbar Ali alias Sheetal Kumar Sao and Prakash Sahu alias Prakash Aggarwal, residents of Sundergarh, Odisha.

A fake Aadhaar card, a money purse, two mobiles, four empty bags and a snatched bag have been recovered from them. RPF station in-charge said that ASI Balveer Prasad along with his other colleagues were running a special operation under Operation Passenger Security.

Meanwhile, two people were seen roaming suspiciously on platform number three at Tatanagar station late last night. They immediately surrounded both of them, took them into custody and interrogated them.

During this, they did not give a satisfactory answer, after which the RPF team arrested both of them and brought them to Tatanagar RPF post. During interrogation, both of them told that they often travel in AC coaches of different trains with proper reservation tickets and steal the luggage of passengers.

He also confessed to using fake Aadhaar cards and names and addresses during reservation journeys so that his identity remains hidden. Here, RPF has handed over both of them to GRP for further action, from where after registering the case, both of them were sent to judicial custody
