Jamshedpur, March 15: Tata Workers’ Union on Wednesday observed ‘Martyrs Day’ in memory of five employees who lost their lives on March 15, 1920. Members of the executive committee paid homage to the martyrs who were gunned down by mounted police on March 15, 1920.
Shatrughna Roy, Vice President, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Vice President, Sanjeev Tiwary, Vice President, Saroj Kumar Singh, Asst. Secretary, Hari Shankar Singh, Treasurer, Accountant along with large number of executive committee members and union staff were present and paid floral tributes to the portrait of five employees.
According to reports, mounted police fired indiscriminately on protesting workers of TISCO (later Tata Steel) in which five of them Liladhar Chaubey, Raghunath Bhuinya, Damru Lohar, Seva Singh and Kalun Mata were martyred.
