Jamshedpur: Tata Motors Workers Union President Gurmeet Singh Tote and General Secretary RK Singh, along with Jusco Shramik Union President Raghunath Pandey, attended the three-day Industry All Global Union, Automotive Sector World Conference held in Hinjawadi, Pune. The event was attended by experts and union representatives from numerous countries.
The conference focused on challenges within the Indian automotive industry, the global perspective and issues facing workers and unions. Discussions were held across several sessions, with experts providing suggestions to tackle these challenges. Key figures included Christina Olivier, Assistant General Secretary of Industry All Global Union, Jason Wade from UAW (USA), Sanjay Wadhavkar, General Secretary of SMEFI and many others.
The conference featured a detailed discussion on the topic “Indian Automotive Industry: Perspectives and Challenges,” led by Thilagam Ramalingam, Regional Officer of Industrial Global Union. The panel discussion saw participation from Indian auto union leaders, including SD Tyagi, President of SMEFI, Raghunath Pandey, President of Jusco Union and Sanjay Kumar Singh, General Secretary of All India INTUC.
Martin Lundstedt, CEO of Volvo AB and Dr. Lorenza Monaco, PhD from University College London, also addressed the challenges faced by the industry, workers and unions globally. The conference placed a special emphasis on the importance of implementing ‘Just Transition’ and shared global experiences on tackling the challenges faced by automotive workers.
