Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Mahanagar BJP leaders paid rich tributes to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on his 126th birth anniversary here on Friday. The day was observed as ‘Samrasta Diwas’ (Harmony Day) by the BJP leaders. A grand programme was organized on the occasion in Harijan Busti at Burmamines.
Addressing the gathering during the event, the MP of Jamshedpur Vidyut Varan Mahato said there was need to follow in the footsteps of Dr Ambedkar. He said the state government was dedicated to the welfare and uplift of the backward and under-privileged communities. He said the government was doing every bit to ensure the social, educational and economic progress of these communities. The government is playing its due role in making the dreams of Dr Ambedkar come true, he said.
Also present at the programme was district BJP president Dinesh Kumar. In his address, Kumar said that Dr Ambedkar always fought for justice, equality and welfare of backward classes. He said the government was doing its best to ensure that Dr Ambedkar’s dreams are realized.
Potka MLA Menka Sardar was also present on the occasion. She said the great visionary leader had done a lot to reform the society, the country and the system. She said Dr Ambedkar had taught everyone the lessons of equality and progress.
The BJP leaders distributed study materials among 51 children of Harijan Busti to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.
A party activist Khemaram Mukhi was presented a shawl for his services to the organization.
Among others present during the event included the state Women’s Commission chairperson Kalyani Sharan, BJP spokesperson Rajesh Shukla, Kamlesh Singh, Mithilesh Singh Yadav, Rambabu Tiwary, Devendra Singh, Chandrashekhar Mishra and Pawan Agrawal.
