Jamshedpur: As part of the upcoming Shaheedi Week, a Badminton Doubles Tournament dedicated to the supreme sacrifice of the four Sahibzadas—Baba Ajit Singh, Baba Jujhar Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh—will be held on December 25 and 26 at the premises of Guru Nanak High School, Sakchi.
The tournament is being jointly organised by Bahadur Khalsa Gatka Group, Sakchi, and the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Sakchi. Participation is open exclusively to members of the Sikh community, including children, youth, senior citizens and women (Bibiyan), making it a unique, inclusive sporting event.
Organising committee member Gurpreet Singh Prince said the tournament aims to connect Sikh youth with discipline, unity and religious pride through sports while keeping alive the memory of the Sahibzadas’ martyrdom. The competition will be played in doubles and mixed doubles formats across age categories—Sub-Junior (below 17 years), Junior (18–22 years), Senior (23–39 years) and Masters (40 years and above).
The entry fee has been kept at Rs 100 to encourage maximum participation. Players must bring their own rackets, while shuttlecocks will be provided by the organisers.
