Jamshedpur, April 22: The Eco Club of S.D.S.M. School for Excellence organized Earth Day celebration on Monday, April 22 within the school premises, aiming to instil a sense of reverence for Mother Earth among the students.
A plethora of competitions and activities, including Drawing Competition, Leafy Collage, Just a Minute, Slogan Writing (in both English & Hindi), Quiz, and Reel for a Reason, were organized to engage students and raise awareness about environmental conservation. The theme of the day, ‘No Plastic for a Safe Planet,’ stressed the urgent need to combat plastic pollution.
Winners of the various events were felicitated during the school assembly, encouraging their participation and commitment to environmental causes. The Pre-School and Junior School students captivated the audience with a skit, delivering powerful messages advocating water conservation, environmental protection, and the eradication of plastic usage.
Principal Moushumi Das addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of adopting sustainable practices for a cleaner and greener Earth. She urged students to refrain from using plastic tiffin boxes and water bottles, advocating for the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives. She advocated the use of indoor plants as a means to protect the environment.
A key initiative of the Eco Club was to raise awareness about the critical issue of Climate Change and propound the reduction of plastic usage to safeguard the planet. The Earth, being a common heritage, necessitated collective action and shared responsibility to ensure its preservation.
