Ruling coalition change stance on Adani after Jharkhand CM’s meeting

Ranchi, March 29: There has been a huge change in the stand of JMM and Congress against Gautam Adani.

Both the parties now consider the meeting of Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani with Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday for the purpose of capital investment and employment generation in the state as positive.

They consider it a meaningful step towards providing employment to the youth in the state. Now both the parties are not considering Adani in the category of untouchable. There is a huge change in the attitude towards him. Also, they want to forget the old disputes and oppositions and move together.

This is the message being received from the statements of JMM and Congress.

After JMM’s strong opposition to Adani and continuous statements, on Gautam Adani’s meeting with the Chief Minister, party general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya says that the state needs investment.

“We will get the investment done on our terms. We have no objection to investment under the Jharkhand government’s industrial policy. If 75% locals get jobs in any of Adani’s industries, then why would there be any objection to it,” said Bhattacharya.

He said that JMM was opposing because the state government had agreed to give the entire electricity produced from the power plant established in Godda to Bangladesh. Whereas under the standard procedure, 25% of the electricity should have gone to Jharkhand. Now when Bangladesh’s economic condition is not good, they want to sell electricity to Jharkhand. We will make an agreement with Adani on our terms.

State Congress spokesperson Rakesh Sinha says that the party is not against any particular person.

“It is against his activities. It is against the activities of the central government. But the state should develop. Industries should be set up here, youth should get jobs, this is the top priority of any government and party. We are not going to forcibly acquire the land of farmers and give it to anyone. We do not oppose anyone coming here and setting up an industry and we are going to do so,” said  Sinha.

After Gautam Adani’s meeting with Chief Minister Hemant Soren, BJP has started taunting.

State BJP spokesperson Ajay Shah says that the statement given by Chief Minister Hemant Soren six months ago can be remembered. At that time the CM had said that Adani has got a mine in Chhattisgarh. With the cooperation of the state government, forests are being destroyed there. The environment is being damaged. Now how did this change of heart happen? What is the meaning of this meeting? What is this relationship called?

State BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev also says that BJP has no objection to the meeting. But why did JMM and the Chief Minister oppose Adani-Ambani earlier? They used to say that they are running the country and that they should stop use of such language.

Jharkhand not benefitting from Adani: Cong MLA

Ranchi,  March 29: The government’s ally Congress is feeling a little uncomfortable with the meeting between Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani and Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Congress MLA Rajesh Kachhap said that Rahul Gandhi is not against Gautam Adani. His opposition is about the support he gets from the central government.

“It is against the opposing policies and not the person. Even during the budget session in the House, many MLAs had raised questions about his power plant in Godda and demanded action,” said Kachhap.

In such a situation, he further said that seeing the government taking a step forward in this direction, it is possible that Gautam Adani has come to meet Chief Minister Hemant Soren. He also said that till now Jharkhand has not got any benefit from Adani. Neither electricity nor employment is being provided by Adani.
