Jharkhand CM to inaugurate Tata Steel Combi Mill at Jamshedpur in May

Rs 1,500 Crore Project nears completion at ISWP

Jamshedpur, April 24: Chief Minister Hemant Soren is expected to inaugurate Tata Steel’s upcoming Combi Mill in Jamshedpur in May, though the final date is yet to be confirmed. A formal request has been sent to the Chief Minister’s Office seeking his availability.

Sharing the update, D.B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President (Corporate Services) at Tata Steel, said the company is hopeful that the inauguration will take place in the first week of May. “We have requested time from the Chief Minister. The exact date will be finalized once we receive confirmation from his office,” Ramam told reporters at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Friday.

He informed that the Combi Mill is being set up within the premises of Indian Steel and Wire Products Limited (ISWP) with an investment of around ₹1,500 crore. The mill has a production capacity of 0.5 million tonnes and is currently in the ramp-up phase.

“The facility has been specially designed for producing special bars and wire rods,” Ramam added, highlighting its importance for Tata Steel’s expansion plans.
