Ranchi, Mar 29: An FIR has been registered against Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth and seven others for allegedly obstructing government work and engaging in a scuffle with the police during the Ranchi bandh. The bandh was called in protest of the murder of BJP leader Anil Tiger. The case has been filed at Pandara OP police station based on a written complaint by Sub-Inspector Manish Kumar.
The other accused named in the FIR include Lalit Ojha, Kumud Jha, Baiju Soni, Satyanarayan Singh, Pradeep Ojha, Dharmendra Sahu and Ashok Yadav. Additionally, several unidentified individuals have also been booked. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to the complainant, he was on duty with police personnel near Piska Mod when bandh supporters, armed with sticks, began chanting slogans and blocked the main road. Despite repeated attempts by police and magistrates to clear the blockade, the protesters refused to disperse.
The situation escalated further when Union Minister and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth arrived at the scene with 60-70 bandh supporters. They staged a sit-in protest, blocking the road. Despite multiple warnings, Seth’s supporters allegedly forced shopkeepers to shut down their businesses. Some protesters also set tires on fire on the road, creating a fire hazard for nearby shops, which led to panic among shopkeepers, forcing them to close their establishments.
Following the incident, authorities registered the case and initiated further legal proceedings.
