Hajipur: Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, inaugurated the newly constructed Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Level Crossing No. 02 in Bettiah. In a symbolic gesture of women empowerment, the inauguration was conducted by women representatives.

Addressing the gathered public, the Hon’ble Minister acknowledged the demand for a Vande Bharat train between Gorakhpur and Patna via Bettiah and assured that it would be considered. He also reviewed the redevelopment plans for Bettiah railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

Distinguished guests at the event included Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal & Mines Satish Chandra Dubey, MP Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, MP Sunil Kumar, MP Gopalji Thakur, along with senior railway officials. The ROB, completed at a cost of Rs 103 crore, aims to ease traffic congestion and enhance railway safety.
In a press conference at Bettiah railway station, Vaishnaw highlighted the massive railway budget allocation for Bihar, stating that it had increased from Rs 1,132 crore (2009-2014) to Rs 10,066 crore in 2025. He also announced a Rs 95,566 crore investment for Bihar’s railway infrastructure over the next five years.
Later, the Minister inspected the Gorakhpur-Valmikinagar-Bettiah railway section and reviewed the Rs 442 crore redevelopment project at Muzaffarpur Junction, which aims to transform it into a world-class station. He further revealed that the government plans to introduce 100 Amrit Bharat trains, 50 Namo Bharat trains and recruit 95,000 new railway employees.
