Jamshedpur: After sweltering through a hot and humid day, residents of Jamshedpur finally received relief on Friday evening as rain accompanied by gusty winds swept across the city.
Around 7 mm of rainfall was recorded, bringing down the temperature and offering respite from the oppressive weather conditions.
According to the daily evening weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, Jamshedpur recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius, which was 4 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature settled at 21.8 degrees Celsius, also below the seasonal average.
The bulletin further noted that 4.6 mm rainfall was recorded between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm in Jamshedpur, while nearby areas under the automated weather station network reported additional precipitation. Gusty winds during the evening showers brought down the intensity of the heat, making the weather pleasant across several parts of the city.
Several low-lying areas witnessed brief waterlogging, while commuters were seen taking shelter during the sudden spell of rain. However, the showers were largely welcomed by residents who had been struggling with rising temperatures over the past few days.
The weather department has indicated fluctuating weather conditions across Jharkhand, with chances of more light rain and thunderstorms in isolated places over the coming days.
