Rajasthan Mahotsav Kicks Off at Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur with Much Fanfare

Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum District Marwari Sammelan inaugurated the three-day Rajasthan Mahotsav-cum-Mela 2026 at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur, transforming the venue into a celebration of Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, cuisine, and community spirit.

Residents from across the city thronged the festival grounds to participate in the event, which showcases Rajasthan’s folk culture, art, and social harmony.

Saryu Roy, MLA of Jamshedpur West, inaugurated the festival as the chief guest. Suresh Chandra Agarwal, senior industrialist and chief patron, Ramesh Agarwal, Rajkumar Agarwal, Gajanand Bhalotia, Ram Krishna Choudhary, and Inder Agarwal attended the inaugural ceremony as distinguished guests.

Organizers welcomed the guests in traditional Rajasthani style with safa (turbans), angavastrams, bouquets, and commemorative badges.

Presiding over the programme, district president Mukesh Mittal said the Rajasthan Mahotsav serves not only as a fair but also as an effort to pass Rajasthan’s values, bravery, art, and cultural traditions to the younger generation. He said the event strengthens cultural unity and reinforces family values in society.

In his address, Roy said that festivals like Rajasthan Mahotsav enrich Jamshedpur’s social and cultural diversity.

A major attraction on the opening day was a performance by renowned comedian and Rajasthani cultural presenter Sanjay Mukundgarh. His blend of humour, satire, and folk storytelling kept the audience engaged late into the evening.

The festival also featured traditional folk dances, musical performances, and thematic tableaux. Stalls serving authentic Rajasthani delicacies and displaying handicrafts, decorative items, and children’s entertainment drew large crowds.
