Jamshedpur,July 15: SSP Prabhat Kumar, who took charge on Friday, said that he would try to provide a better law and order situation in the city and curb Naxalism. Kumar took charge as the senior SP of East Singhbhum district from the erstwhile SSP, M Tamil Vanan. An IPS officer of the 2014 batch, Kumar had served here as SP (Rural) and City SP earlier.

He said that he is well aware of the terrains and area and would be able to contain Naxalism and continue the good works of his predecessors. “I will assess the current situation at a meeting with DSPs and officers-in-charge, then only the priorities could be listed. For now, I promise to provide a better law and order situation,” said Kumar.

While taking charge from Vanan, the new senior SP said that his past experience will help him to do better policing in the city. He reiterated that he would try to give his best in meeting the aspirations of the administration as well as the people here during his service in the district.

“Though I have a good background of policing in steel city as well as in the district’s rural areas due to his earlier postings, I will have to spend some time in understanding the current situation as time might have changed a lot during this period,” said Kumar.
He said he would carry forward the good people-oriented works that his predecessor had initiated like improving road safety aspects and combating cyber criminals, but maintaining law and order will remain his priority.

Vanan who was promoted as DIG has been entrusted as DIG (CID) claimed he is satisfied in his stint as senior SP, Jamshedpur. “ I am looking forward to taking on my new responsibilities. Except for one or two cases, all the criminal cases were solved during my period here. In many cases, the offenders were convicted also, ” noted Vanan while speaking during the occasion. The erstwhile SSP felt sad that he could not detect the case of Rs 32 lakh loot in Bistupur despite concerted effort.
