Jamshedpur: In light of the approaching religious and national festivals, a high-level meeting was convened at the office auditorium of the Senior Superintendent of Police, East Singhbhum. The meeting was chaired by SSP Piyush Pandey and attended by Superintendent of Police (City), all Deputy Superintendents of Police, and Sub Inspector-cum-Station In-charges from across the district.
The primary focus of the meeting was to review preparedness and issue strategic instructions for maintaining law and order, communal harmony, and public safety during the festive season. The upcoming celebrations, including Rakshabandhan, Kajari Teej, Janmashtami, Independence Day, and Chehlum, are expected to witness large public gatherings, processions, and increased movement in markets and religious places. SSP Piyush Pandey emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and coordinated policing to ensure these festivals are celebrated in a peaceful and secure environment.
Addressing the gathering, the SSP stressed upon preemptive patrolling, increased police visibility in sensitive areas, and the deployment of quick response teams in zones identified as vulnerable to disturbances. He directed all police stations to remain on high alert and to keep regular communication with local peace committees and community representatives to build trust and ensure cooperation. Instructions were also issued for the installation of temporary police posts in crowded areas, especially near temples, mosques, marketplaces, and major intersections.
Special focus was given to the importance of intelligence gathering to prevent any untoward incidents. The SSP called for close monitoring of social media platforms to curb the spread of rumors or inflammatory content that could disturb communal harmony. Cyber cells have been tasked with constant surveillance of suspicious online activities.
To prevent traffic congestion and ensure smooth public movement during processions and celebrations, the Traffic Department was instructed to chalk out diversion plans and deploy adequate personnel. Additional directives included conducting surprise inspections at public places, intensifying night patrolling, and ensuring that CCTV systems in public and sensitive areas are functional.
Deputy Superintendents of Police and Inspectors were asked to coordinate with civic bodies for street lighting, cleanliness, and removal of encroachments to prevent any logistical issues during festivals. The SSP also emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and professionalism while dealing with the public, urging all officers to lead with patience, empathy, and firmness.
In conclusion, SSP Piyush Pandey urged all officers to stay alert, proactive, and responsive, reiterating that ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens during festive events is a top priority for the police force. He said that with meticulous planning and sincere execution, the district police can ensure that the upcoming festivals are celebrated peacefully and joyfully by all sections of society.
