Jamshedpur, July 5: East Singhbhum Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) held a comprehensive review meeting on Sunday with senior police officers to assess law and order and outline priorities for strengthening policing across the district.
The meeting was attended by the Superintendents of Police (City and Rural), Assistant Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Circle Inspectors, and Station House Officers (SHOs).
Addressing the officers, the SSP stressed the importance of teamwork, coordination, and accountability in ensuring effective policing. He directed all officers to work in close coordination and discharge their responsibilities with professionalism and commitment.
The SSP instructed all SHOs to treat every visitor to police stations with courtesy and respect, ensuring that public grievances are heard patiently and resolved promptly.
He also ordered a strict crackdown on illegal activities, including gambling, lottery operations, drug trafficking, and illegal sand mining. The SSP warned that Station House Officers would be held directly accountable if such activities were found to be operating within their respective jurisdictions.
To strengthen crime prevention, officers were directed to conduct regular checking drives against illegal firearms, knives, and other prohibited weapons, maintain close surveillance on known criminals, and ensure strict compliance with police station reporting procedures.
The SSP further directed that PCR vans, Tiger Mobile units, and police patrol teams remain operational round the clock to enhance public safety. He also called for heightened security at vulnerable locations such as banks, ATMs, jewelry shops, and petrol pumps to prevent criminal incidents.
Emphasizing the safety of women, the SSP instructed police officers to conduct special drives around schools, colleges, and public parks to prevent incidents of eve-teasing, snatching, and other crimes.
On traffic management, the SSP advised traffic personnel to focus on creating awareness about road safety rather than inconveniencing commuters. He instructed traffic police to adopt a courteous, cooperative, and public-friendly approach while enforcing traffic regulations.
