Jamshedpur: In a pre-Diwali crackdown, the administration has initiated raids on shops and warehouses involved in the storage and sale of fireworks in Jugasalai area.

On the orders of Dhalbhum SDO Piyush Sinha extensive raid was conducted from 4 pm to 10 pm on Monday, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of firecrackers.

Three shops and warehouses, owned by Lochan Mangotia of Jean Enterprises, Gurmeed Singh of Bharat Traders, and Vicky Khirawal, were sealed.

A case has been filed against these shop owners for the illegal storage, sale, and transportation of fireworks, as stated by Jugasalai Nagar Parishad’s City Manager Jyoti Poonj Pandey.

The weight of the seized fireworks is currently being assessed at the Jugasalai police station. The raiding team included Executive Magistrate Sumit Prakash, newly appointed Executive Magistrate Sudipta Raj, and Jugasalai Police Station in-charge Kunal Kumar, along with armed police personnel.

The district administration has also recorded video evidence of the entire operation.

After registering the case, Jugasalai Nagar Parishad, further investigations will be carried out against these shopkeepers, and fine will be imposed.
It’s worth noting that a similar incident occurred last year when a substantial quantity of fireworks was confiscated from the premises of Gurmeed Singh of Bharat Traders.
This crackdown in Jugasalai, despite the ban on the storage and sale of firecrackers in residential areas, highlights the illegal fireworks trade in the area.
The administration conducted coordinated raids at six different locations, including Station Road situated RK Gulati m, Pawan Gulati, Raju Barwaria, Lochan Mangotia, Gurmeed Singh, Vicky Khirawal, and others. Investigations are ongoing into the licensing of fireworks shops and warehouses in the Jugasalai area.
Piyush Sinha, SDO, Dhalbhum Subdivision, emphasized the importance of these measures. He stated that firecrackers sales are not permitted in densely populated areas, but they are allowed in open spaces with the necessary licenses. However, despite the ban, reports of illegal firecrackers trade in Jugasalai prompted this action, and the crackdown will continue.
