No negligence will be tolerated in Mango drinking water project: Saryu Roy

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy has issued a stern warning against negligence in the execution of the Mango drinking water project. He directly cautioned the Executive Engineer (Civil) of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, emphasizing that any carelessness in projects providing essential public services would have serious consequences.

Rai pointed out that even after a week of inaugurating the Prithvi Park water tank in Mango, proper water supply had not begun. “It is unacceptable that areas like Krishna Nagar, Shanti Nagar, and Chitaikuli have not received water even for a single day. Ramakrishna Colony is also not getting adequate supply,” he said.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, the MLA stated that he had received reports of pipe leakages in certain locations and concerns that the water tank was not being filled to capacity. He also highlighted the slow progress in procuring new motor pumps for intake wells, treatment plants, and tanks.

Rai further pointed out that despite a joint inspection by the Superintending Engineer (Civil and Mechanical) following the instructions of the departmental Principal Secretary, inefficiencies in the project’s operations persist. “Officers must change the work culture inherited from previous tenures. Public services cannot suffer due to negligence,” he asserted.

He urged the authorities to act swiftly to resolve these issues and ensure that the people of Mango receive uninterrupted drinking water. His statement has increased pressure on the department to address the lapses and improve the execution of the long-pending water supply project.
