Security agencies probe SFJ chief Pannun’s offer to fund Indian protests

Indian security and intelligence agencies have launched a thorough investigation following reports that proscribed terrorist and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has offered financial assistance to ongoing protest movements in the country.
Official sources confirmed that while Pannun routinely makes provocative statements during domestic agitations, his latest offer is being treated with utmost seriousness to rule out potential foreign interference aimed at destabilizing regional peace.
According to Intelligence Bureau officials, Pannun’s primary strategy involves targeting the youth of Punjab by capitalizing on local social and economic grievances. Intelligence inputs suggest that Pannun is attempting to test the waters through these protest funding offers to gauge public response and see what traction he can gain among young protesters.
Officials warn that his ultimate goal is to channel general frustration over issues like unemployment, opportunity deficits, and drug abuse into political unrest, eventually attempting to recruit vulnerable youth into the Khalistan movement under the pretext of government failure.
The investigation also aligns with recent intelligence alerts flagging an increase in overseas drug trafficking networks, which are allegedly being leveraged to finance anti-India groups including the SFJ, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), and the International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF). With political attention sharpening ahead of upcoming state proceedings, authorities emphasize that foreign elements are seeking to exploit domestic agitations.
Security agencies remain on high alert, monitoring cross-border financial trails and online propaganda to neutralize any attempts to incite local youth or compromise national security through illicit funding channels.
