Jamshedpur swimmer Rana Pratap wins bronze, his second medal at National Games

Jamshedpur: City’s young swimmer Rana Pratap has once again brought glory to Jharkhand by winning his second medal at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand. Rana secured a bronze medal in the 100-meter breaststroke event, clocking 1 minute 04.57 seconds at the Manaskhand Swimming Pool in Golapur, Haldwani, on Tuesday.

This is Rana Pratap’s second medal in the ongoing National Games. Earlier, he won a bronze medal in the 200-meter breaststroke event with a time of 2 minutes 24.61 seconds, making it the first medal for Jharkhand in this edition of the National Games.

Rana Pratap, who trains under coach Partha Majumdar, has consistently proven his potential on the national stage. He holds a national record in the 200-meter breaststroke event at the Junior Nationals, where he clocked 2 minutes 21 seconds.

Speaking to media over the phone after his latest victory, Rana Pratap expressed his happiness at winning two medals for Jharkhand. “My goal is to win a medal for India at the Olympics, and I am ready to work as hard as necessary to achieve that,” said Rana. He also acknowledged the support and inspiration of his grandfather, Ram Balak Singh, a former international swimmer.

Rana Pratap will next compete in the 50-meter and 100-meter breaststroke events at the National Games, where he is expected to deliver more impressive performances.

Coach Partha Majumdar remains optimistic about his protégé’s chances, saying Rana’s dedication and talent will continue to yield success. The city eagerly awaits his next events, hoping for more medals and national pride from this promising swimmer.
