Jamshedpur, August 18: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri viewed the artwork made by the local artisans at the Kala Mandir in Bistupur, including Matikala, Payatkar painting, Dokra, Vadyayantra Banam, Dhol, Nagada, Mandar.
“After seeing all these artefacts, it is felt that there is no dearth of skill among the local artisans, what is needed is to provide proper market, marketing of artefacts so that the artisans can get a fair price for all these,” said Bhajantri.
Officials of the district administration were directed to prepare an action plan. The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration will make every possible effort in this direction so that these crafts can be preserved and promoted.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed desire that he himself would visit the villages of the artisans and try to know their problems especially village in Andharjhor of Bodam block. Andharjhor is known for the manufacture of musical instruments like Dhol, Nagada, Mandar etc.
The District Entrepreneur Coordinator was directed to talk to the handicrafts promotion officer and make appropriate efforts for the promotion of handicraftsmen.
The Deputy Commissioner said that efforts will also be made in this direction so that craftsmen, dramatists, artists etc. can get a proper place for the performance of their arts.
