Chaibasa, Oct 29: Former Chief Minister Madhu Koda expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Kolhan for making the BJP-supported Kolhan bandh a success, terming it a reflection of public unity and democratic consciousness.
Addressing a press conference held at Chaibasa Cafeteria, Koda said the peaceful conduct of the bandh demonstrated the collective will of citizens, traders, vehicle owners, and rural organizations.
He, however, extended apologies to anyone who might have faced inconvenience due to the bandh, emphasizing that it was a people-driven movement meant to highlight genuine grievances.
Koda stated that the public demand to impose No-Entry restrictions on heavy vehicles during daytime was entirely justified and in public interest.
He blamed the administration’s indifference for the recurring road accidents in the region, which, he said, had naturally led to public outrage.
The former Chief Minister alleged that during a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner , when social representatives accompanied him to submit their memorandum, the DC displayed an apathetic attitude and made inappropriate remarks toward leaders — conduct which Koda termed a violation of democratic decorum.

He urged that the Deputy Commissioner must act responsibly and be answerable to the public rather than hurting public sentiment through dismissive behavior.
The press conference further revealed that social organizations have given the administration 24- hours to respond to the demands.
If no concrete action is taken within that period, the organizations have declared their right to resume the agitation.
Criticizing the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and its leaders, Koda said they had become disconnected from public issues and were more engaged in political rhetoric.
He warned that if the state government and administration fail to address people’s concerns, the BJP will launch a statewide agitation — from streets to the Assembly — to raise the voice of the people.
The press conference was also attended by BJP District President Sanjay Pandey and District Media In-Charge Jitendra Nath Ojha.
