BJP’s Gains in Bengal, Assam Carry Message for Jharkhand : Former CM Champai Soren

Jharkhand Too Will See Change, People Are Watching: Champai Soren

Jamshedpur, May 4: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Champai Soren on Monday expressed happiness and confidence over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s performance in the recently declared Assembly election results of five states. Addressing mediapersons at the Circuit House in Jamshedpur, the Seraikela MLA said the BJP’s big win in Bengal and hat-trick in Assam is the outcome of growing public faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party’s development agenda.
Soren began by congratulating BJP workers, supporters, and citizens across the country for what he described as a “significant mandate in favour of development-oriented politics.” He said the results clearly showed that people had rejected what he termed as “authoritarian and non-performing governments” in various states and instead chose a leadership committed to growth and good governance.
“The people have given a clear message through these elections. They have rejected misrule and supported the vision of a developed India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Soren said. He added that the BJP’s ideology, focused on development and welfare, was gaining acceptance not only across India but also at a global level.
Referring to the broader political context, Soren said the election results were being closely watched across the country, particularly in eastern states like Jharkhand and West Bengal. He claimed that the political shift seen in these five states could have a long-term impact on regional politics as well.
Taking a swipe at past governments in West Bengal, Soren alleged that the state had witnessed decades of stagnation under successive regimes. He referred to the long rule of Left parties followed by the Trinamool Congress and claimed that development had been largely neglected during these periods. “For many years, West Bengal saw political dominance but not development. There were concerns about law and order and safety of citizens,” he said.
According to Soren, the latest electoral outcome has opened the door for a new phase of development in the state. He expressed hope that governance in West Bengal would now focus more on infrastructure, welfare, and economic growth. “The people have given an opportunity for change. Now development work will begin in earnest,” he stated.
When asked whether the results would influence political dynamics in Jharkhand, Soren responded that such outcomes send a strong message everywhere. “Wherever politics is done without focusing on people’s welfare, the people give a fitting reply. This applies to every state,” he said, indicating that similar sentiments could emerge in Jharkhand in the future.
Soren also touched upon issues related to migration and land rights, stating that concerns over social balance and protection of local land should not be ignored. He emphasized that while India is a democratic country where people move freely, there must be safeguards to ensure that local communities and their resources are protected. “Social structure and land rights are sensitive matters. These must be handled carefully to avoid imbalance,” he noted.
During the interaction, Soren refrained from commenting directly on specific political leaders or campaign strategies in other states, stating that many leaders had visited different regions during elections, but the ultimate decision rested with the people.
He reiterated that the BJP’s focus remains on inclusive development, good governance, and national progress. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is moving towards becoming a developed nation. The people have endorsed this vision,” he said.
Concluding his address, Soren once again congratulated BJP workers and supporters for their efforts and dedication during the elections. He expressed confidence that the party would continue to expand its support base and work towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
