Land donors block UCIL gate over job demand 

Jamshedpur, September 21: Around 850 land donors and company employees of UCIL have blocked UCIL’s Narva Pahad Uranium Project gate on Thursday with five-point demands including providing jobs to their dependents from generation to generation in exchange of land.

Due to this strike, the production of about one thousand tonnes of uranium ore came to a complete halt. Since morning, UCIL’s Narva Pahad Uranium company gate was blocked and no employee was allowed to come and go for duty.

The agitators demanded  that as they have given the entire land to the company to meet the increasing demand of uranium in the country and to open mines. Similarly, the company should also provide jobs to the displaced families after retirement so that they do not have to face the brunt of landlessness after retirement.

The agitators claimed that their next generation are losing livelihood. In such a situation, the company manager continues to provide protection to the landowner as long as the plant runs. The dependents of the family will have to be given a job.

They also demand that company should make permanent the displaced person working on contract in UCIL, the company should employ the dependents of the deceased displaced person and fresh dependents from 2015 to 2023.
