Jamshedpur, June 9: In a move aimed at improving traffic discipline and enhancing commuter convenience, East Singhbhum Traffic DSP Neeraj Kumar on Monday interacted with auto-rickshaw drivers at the busy Sakchi roundabout and directed them to strictly adhere to uniform regulations while operating their vehicles.
During the awareness-cum-enforcement drive, the Traffic DSP stressed that wearing the prescribed uniform is essential for ensuring professionalism, easy identification of drivers and greater public confidence in the transport system.
He urged all auto-rickshaw operators to comply with the directive without exception and maintain discipline while on duty.

Apart from emphasizing uniform compliance, Kumar also issued detailed instructions regarding the proper parking of auto-rickshaws and other vehicles. He cautioned drivers against unauthorized parking and obstructing roads, noting that such practices contribute significantly to traffic congestion and inconvenience to commuters, particularly in high-footfall commercial areas like Sakchi.
The Traffic DSP advised drivers to use only designated parking spaces and cooperate with traffic personnel in maintaining smooth vehicular movement. He also appealed to them to act responsibly and support ongoing efforts to streamline traffic management across the city.
The initiative comes a day after East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner directed officials to constitute a special task force to intensify action against illegal parking and encroachments across Jamshedpur and other parts of the district. The administration has identified unauthorized parking of vehicles and roadside encroachments as major factors behind recurring traffic bottlenecks in several urban areas.
Officials said the proposed task force will conduct regular inspections and enforcement drives to remove illegal encroachments, regulate parking practices and ensure better utilization of public spaces.
The move is expected to strengthen coordination between the district administration, traffic police and municipal authorities in addressing civic and traffic-related concerns.
Commuters and local residents have often raised concerns over indiscriminate parking of vehicles and the occupation of road margins by vendors and other unauthorized structures, which frequently hamper the smooth flow of traffic.
The administration’s renewed focus on enforcement is being seen as a significant step toward improving urban mobility and road safety.
Traffic officials expressed hope that cooperation from auto-rickshaw drivers and the general public would play a crucial role in making the campaign successful and creating a more orderly traffic environment in the city.
