Chennai: Kolkata Knight Riders clinched a third Indian Premier League title as they beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the IPL 2024 final at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. KKR got off to a quick start chasing a measly total of 114 as they
notched 72 runs from the powerplay despite Pat Cummins removing Sunil Narine in the second over. Venkatesh Iyer notched a fifty, his second in the playoffs this season.
The KKR pacers proved to be too much for the Hyderabad top order, who were reduced to wiped out for 113 in the IPL 2024 final. Mitchell Starc started off the proceedings by removing Abhishek Sharma in the first over. Meanwhile, Vaibhav Arora got the better of Travis Head in the next over. Starc would strike again to remove Rahul Tripathi while Harshit Rana struck in his first over to snap Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Earlier, the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 final in Chennai on Sunday. While KKR have won the competition twice (2012 and 2014), SRH have lifted the trophy only once before (2016).
