Chaibasa 4: In a significant development, the Human Resource Department (HRD) has granted approval for the payment of the long-pending seventh pay scale to non-teaching staff at Kolhan University, who had been deprived of it for several years. This resolution has finally resolved a lingering issue that had persisted for an extended period.
With HRD’s approval, non-teaching employees will now receive the seventh pay scale. The majority of the university’s non-teaching staff will benefit from this decision. However, some cases are still pending, particularly for non-teaching staff whose paperwork was not completed during their tenure. Approximately 15 employees are yet to have their cases resolved, but they too will be compensated based on the seventh pay scale shortly.
For several years, the non-teaching staff had been making continuous visits to HRD, with some employees even resorting to legal action. While a few cases are still in the court, the issue related to the seventh pay scale has been effectively addressed by HRD.
Previously, the university had passed the decision in the syndicate and implemented the seventh pay scale for all non-teaching staff, but it required HRD’s approval. With HRD’s endorsement, all non-teaching staff will now receive the seventh pay scale as the basis for their compensation. Additionally, non-teaching staff who have been awaiting arrears for an extended period will soon receive their pending payments.
Kolhan University also has non-teaching staff who have retired or passed away. Despite the delays in promotions, they will also benefit from the seventh pay scale. The Central Government had introduced the seventh pay scale in 2016, but many non-teaching staff members at the university were still receiving the fifth pay scale at that time. As a result, they were subsequently upgraded to the sixth pay scale before the seventh pay scale was implemented. This process took a considerable amount of time, and regrettably, some employees passed away during this period. In light of these circumstances, the dependents of these employees will now receive the compensation they are entitled to. Kolhan University officials are in the process of developing guidelines to ensure proper disbursement of these benefits, in accordance with government regulations.
