Jamshedpur, April 23: In an inspiring story of grit and discipline, Om Kumar, a student of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Baharagora, has emerged as the district topper in the JAC Matric Examination 2026, securing an outstanding 98.40%.
Scoring 492 out of 500 marks, Om not only brought laurels to his school but also made the entire East Singhbhum district proud. Hailing from a modest background, he is the son of Kamalakant Kar (Pappu), who has been running a small electronics shop in Baharagora for over a decade.
The family resides in Kemi village under Bankata Panchayat.
Despite limited resources, Om never allowed circumstances to hinder his academic journey.
His success stands as a testament to perseverance and focus.
He maintained a disciplined routine, dedicating nearly five hours daily to studies while keeping away from social media distractions, using his mobile phone strictly for academic purposes.
Om credits his achievement to the constant support of his parents, his uncle Lokesh Kar, and his teachers—Harihar Maiti, Hemant Kar, and Samir Giri.
With his eyes set on the future, he aspires to become an engineer and contribute meaningfully to society.
School Principal Basudev Pradhan and Cluster Head Ashok Nayak congratulated Om on his remarkable feat, stating that his achievement reinforces the belief that determination and hard work can overcome any obstacle. (
