Jamshedpur, June 24: The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change vide notification dated 12th August 2021, notified the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2021. The amendment basically aims to prohibit manufacture, import, storage, distribution, sale and use of single use plastic having low utility and high littering potentials.
As per the order of Government of India, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee has issued notice to ban single-use plastic from July 1.
Use of several products made of plastic have been banned including-
Ear buds with plastic stick, bag made of plastic stick, balloon with plastic stick, plastic flags, candy, ice cream, sweet boxes, materials made of thermocol, plastic used for invitations along with straw, sticker, plate and cup.
Keeping this in mind, Special Officer of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) launched awareness campaign in Sakchi market on Friday to make the people aware against ill effects of plastic.
People from all walks of life are being included in the campaign to help Jamshedpur get rid of plastic.
Special Officer Krishna Kumar visited several shops and made the shop owners aware against use of plastic.
Also present were JNAC City Manager Ravi Bharti, Joy Gudiya, Christina Kachhap, Saurabh Kumar and others.
