CM Hemant to join Rahul Gandhi’s Delhi rally over electoral rolls

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren plans to strengthen his alliance with the Congress-led opposition block.

As he joins Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi at a high-profile rally scheduled for November 1 at New Delhi’s historic Ramlila Maidan.

The demonstration will focus heavily on opposition concerns surrounding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls across the nation.

Beyond his participation in the national capital, Chief Minister Soren has outlined a major strategic effort within his home state to support the opposition’s collective stand.

Following a crucial state Cabinet meeting, the Jharkhand government officially resolved to convene a special two-day session of the Legislative Assembly on November 25 and 26.

The assembly will meet specifically to debate contentious national and state issues, primarily focusing on the electoral roll revision and recent amendments to the Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation Act.

Speaking on the upcoming legislative session, Soren emphasized that the electoral roll revision represents a critical concern with national implications, alongside growing worries over the revised mining legislation.

Parallel to these political developments, the Jharkhand Cabinet also approved significant state policy updates to streamline resource management.

The legislative adjustments include amendments under the Jharkhand Mineral Bearing Land Cess Act, 2024, as well as the formal adoption of the Jharkhand Mineral Exploration and Block Development Policy, 2026.

Key public sector enterprises, including the Jharkhand Exploration and Mining Corporation Limited and the Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation Limited, will use these administrative measures to accelerate the operationalization of local mineral blocks.
