Chaibasa, Dec 3: After the tragic death of Sahu Purti and Dukhi Purti, residents of Asura village in Jhinkpani, West Singhbhum, their five children were left destitute, cared for only by their elderly grandmother. Responding to the dire situation, Chief Minister Hemant Soren directed the Chaibasa Deputy Commissioner to ensure the family’s welfare, including education for the children and access to government schemes.

Deputy Commissioner Chaibasa confirmed swift action. “Our Block Development Officer visited the family and identified key challenges, including the absence of Aadhaar cards and birth certificates for the children, and the grandmother’s discontinued pension,” he stated.

The administration has already initiated steps to issue the necessary documents and link the family to social security benefits. “We are ensuring that three children are enrolled in the local school and one in Anganwadi. The four-month-old child, currently in the care of an aunt, is being provided nutritional supplements through Anganwadi services,” said the Block Development Officer.

Highlighting the government’s commitment, Chief Minister Hemant Soren remarked, “The well-being of every child is paramount. My government will ensure these children receive proper education, nutrition, and security. No family in need should be left out of welfare schemes.”

The grandmother’s pension, which was halted due to missing documentation, is being reinstated. “We are updating all documents to re-establish her pension benefits and connect the family with other government support systems,” the Deputy Commissioner added.

This timely intervention reflects the administration’s dedication to addressing urgent community needs. As the Chief Minister emphasized, “No child should feel abandoned. We will stand by them to secure their future.”
