Jamshedpur Mango Festival A Huge Hit; Connects Local Farmers to City

Jamshedpur: A one-day Mango Festival at the collectorate drew large crowds, giving local farmers a platform to market their produce to city consumers.

Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan inaugurated the event alongside senior district administration officials. Ranjan toured the various stalls to inspect a diverse array of mango varieties. While interacting with the participants, Ranjan urged the farmers to prioritize quality production, embrace modern horticultural techniques, and scale up their output to meet growing market demands.

Eliminating Intermediaries to Boost Income

Ranjan emphasized that the district administration is committed to securing better market access for farmers to improve their livelihoods. “The Mango Festival primarily aims to establish direct links between farmers and consumers,” Ranjan stated. “This setup ensures that growers receive fair prices for their hard work without losing profits to intermediaries.”

He added that the administration’s market-linking strategies already yield impressive results, successfully pushing East Singhbhum’s mangoes into markets well beyond the district borders.

Modern Farming and Impressive Sales

Deputy Development Commissioner Nagendra Paswan spoke on the value of scientific horticulture and timely plant protection to boost crop yields. He noted that the administration runs regular training programs for beneficiaries, Bagwani Sakhis, and MGNREGA personnel to promote modern cultivation methods and maximize rural incomes.
