Caution against BJP and its agent on dividing tribals over Parasnath

Ranchi, January 23: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren said that water, forest and land are identity of the state and government is trying to protect it and also cautioned people against poison spread by opposition parties like BJP.

Addressing a rally as part of his Khatiyani Johar Yatra in Simdega, Hemant Soren said, “For environmental protection, it is necessary that one moves towards sustainable development by maintaining harmony between land and forest. Our government is moving forward with this thinking.”

Soren said that BJP and few Adivasis who act as BJP dalals (agent) are trying to inject poison among tribals over Parasnath Hills issue.

“BJP is trying to use their dalals comprising few of our tribal friends to create poison among Adivasis on religious issues like the recent Parasnath Hills. They (BJP) are masters in creating division in society on the basis of religion and caste. They have done it in Chhattisgarh and also in other parts of the country and now doing it in Jharkhand. Be aware of their design,” cautioned Soren.

Significantly, several tribal leaders have been agitating against the state and the central government for granting Parasnath Hills as a Jain pilgrimage centre and demanding that it should also be allowed as a tribal religious site as it is their Marang Buru (mountain God) since time immemorial.

Hemant Soren reminded about the struggle for separate state.

“We fought a long struggle for the creation of a separate state of Jharkhand. Many agitators gave their martyrdom in this movement. Today we are moving forward in the direction of new construction of Jharkhand according to the dreams of these martyrs. When we passed the 1932 Khatian (land survey) Bill in the assembly it was welcomed by the people of the entire state. Our effort is to give the people here their full rights and entitlements,” said Soren.
