Jhargram, Jan 23: The spirit of Jhargram Kumud Kumari Institution completing 100 glorious and emphatic years was reflected in a huge procession on Monday that was led by Forest Minister Birbaha Hansda, Gopiballabpur MLA Dr Khagendranath Mahato, Municipal President Kavita Ghosh, Former Municipal President Shivendra Malladeb, School Principal Biswajit Sengupta, Joydeep Malladeb and many other dignitaries followed by more than 2,000 students. The photographs of the king and queen of the period on a chariot marched ahead of the centenary procession. The procession was made more attractive with tribal women dressed traditionally danced to the beats of Dhamsa and Madal, the percussion instruments of tribal communities. As the procession reached the Panch Morh on the m,ain road, a huge crowd had lined up on both sides. People along the route took selfies and pictures of the procession. The traffic along the route was stalled for about half an hour but was cleared soon enough with the expertise of the traffic and local police. Another highlight of the centenary celebration of Jhargram Kumud Kumari Institution was the installation of a statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the school premises coinciding with the leader’s birth anniversary people paid tributes to the Legendary freedom warrior.
