Jamshedpur’s Rajshree Anand pens her fifth book ‘Ved & Lella’ for children

Jamshedpur, July 17: Well-known author and trainer, Rajshree Anand has penned her fifth book titled Ved & Lella (Grandma’s Tales). It’s a story of Ved and his goat kid Lella. After the success of her previous books of tales she has come up with a fresh story.

“Associating with Jamshedpur and its people always makes me feel very special as I was born and brought up here. Always in gratitude to you, for sharing my books with many, I know in Jamshedpur,” said Rajshree.

Ved & Lella (Grandma’s Tales) is an adventurous story that will take every child through a journey where fear transcends into courage. The experiences of Ved & Lella playing with birds and butterflies brings in a surreal world of ecstasy. It adds layers of empathy and love to their upbringing. This story narrates the very essence of family bonding. The description of trees, days, wild animals and nature in the story relates to environmental closeness.

The illustrations were artistically created by Leema Bose who brought life through her colors. She is an alumnus and former student of St Mary’s English High School, Bistupur , Jamshedpur.

Sharing her experiences, Rajshree said:  “As a child, I always looked forward to my vacations with my grandparents. Besides their love and affection, it was hours of storytelling during bedtime. My grandfather had a profound ability to create a make-believe world for us as kids. We sat around him with all ears and listened to every word he spoke as he took us to unknown lands and distant eras. I would be mesmerized and travel those lands as he unfolded characters and plots. The nights under the sky that have been spent on our makeshift beds on the terrace under the stars were enchanting and enthralling. I would not know when I would have fallen asleep as these stories carried me into my world of dreams. The morning sunrays and twittering birds would wake me up. These stories have stayed with me all through my growing-up years and here I share one of his stories with you,” she said.

She further added that every childhood has fond memories of stories fondly narrated at bedtime. It is an intrinsic part of human culture and society. Each story narrated at bedtime contains an essential personal truth drawing its essence from real life and moral values. Good storytelling needs the art and craft to transport the little ones into a world of fantasy and make-believe. Storytelling is not just a narration but an emotional bonding. It is here that the eyes are connected, the modulation of voice is heard, the ultimate pleasure and comfort are drawn and the anticipation of happy endings is created.

Rajshree Anand presently residing in Dehradun, India has been associated with community services for many years, during her tenure as CSR professional, heading the department (Corporate Social Responsibility) of Jindal Stainless Limited, Hisar, Haryana, working towards women empowerment and rural sustainability projects.
