Jamshedpur, July 17: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy Sunday termed the
survey of the city by a state government team for the proposed
construction of a flyover from Rajasthan Bhavan in Mango to Adityapur
Bridge via Domuhani a futile exercise.
In a statement issued today, he said, “I have learnt through media
reports that a team from the state government has come to conduct a
survey of the city for the construction of a long flyover from
Rajasthan Bhavan in Mango to Domuhani and from there up to Adityapur
Bridge. If this is true, nothing can be more foolish than this. Also
this is going to prove a futile exercise from engineering point of
view.”
Roy lashed out at the engineers of Jharkhand government’s road
construction department for considering the plan worth a survey. He
said he had an alternative to put an end to the traffic problems of
Jamshedpur and Mango which is both practical and economically viable.
He said he would put up his proposal before the government and if
ignored would also raise it in the Jharkhand Assembly.
“I am sure the long flyover plan would prove to be a damp squib just
like the plan to construct a third bridge at Mango did. The engineers
should keep their degree, training and experience in mind before
making such plans, otherwise they would end up becoming a laughing
stock at national level,” said Roy.
