Jamshedpur’s Baridih shops shut against rent hike by JNAC

Jamshedpur, June 16: The shops of Baridih Market remained closed on Thursday as local traders protested against the recent hike in shop rents by the government. Members of Baridih Market Sangh alleged that the situation had turned unfavourable for them since the day the task of maintenance of shops was handed over to Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee.

The shop owners staged a sit-in against the rent hike. They said the JNAC had sent them bills at the rate of Rs 80 per square feet which was a big amount.

They said they were unable to pay the revised rent and demanded immediate revocation of government decision to hike the rent of shops.
